2. Scope and your agreement

By creating an account or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read this Policy. Where the law requires consent (including verifiable parental consent for children), we will obtain that consent separately and you may withdraw it at any time as described in Section 12.

5. How and why we use your data (purposes)

We process personal data to: • Create and manage accounts and verify eligibility/age. • Deliver the learning experience: courses, live and recorded classes, tests, notes, and the book/PDF store. • Provide our core intelligent features — automated revision, the mistake book, AI analytics, and AI/faculty mentoring — which analyse learning-behaviour and (with appropriate consent) mood data to personalise study guidance. See Section 8 on automated processing. • Operate gamification (Forest Game, Digi Coins) and the study timer. • Enable the student–faculty connection (e.g., faculty status updates) and educator dashboards/analytics. • Process payments, payouts, invoicing, and revenue-share to educators. • Provide support, send service communications, and improve, secure, and troubleshoot the Platform. • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms. Our lawful basis for processing is, depending on the activity, your consent (and, for children, verifiable parental/guardian consent), the performance of our contract with you, and our legal obligations.

6. Children's data — special protections

A significant portion of our users are under 18. We treat their data with heightened care and in line with the DPDP Act and DPDP Rules: • Age check & parental consent: We verify whether a user is a child and, before processing a child's personal data, obtain verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian. Where required, account creation for a child is completed or confirmed through a parent/guardian. • No targeted advertising or harmful profiling: We do not undertake advertising or behavioural targeting directed at children, and we do not monitor or profile children for advertising, marketing, or any other commercial purpose. The only processing we apply to a child's learning data is the educational personalisation that a parent or lawful guardian has consented to — for example, generating revision and mentoring suited to the student's learning needs. This is used solely to deliver and improve the student's learning and is never used for advertising, marketing, or sale. We do not sell children's data. • Mood/emotional data: The daily mood check-in for users under 18 is processed only with parental/guardian consent and solely to support learning and wellbeing-aware mentoring — never for advertising or sale. • Parental rights & oversight: Parents/guardians may review, correct, or request deletion of their child's data, and withdraw consent, by contacting our Grievance Officer (Section 13).

7. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data. We share it only as needed: • Educators/faculty: The learning and performance data relevant to a course is visible to the faculty teaching that course, strictly to enable mentoring and academic analytics. For users under 18, faculty access is limited to the minimum data needed for teaching and is governed by access controls and contractual confidentiality obligations. • Service providers / processors: cloud hosting, analytics, communications, payment processing, and verification vendors, bound by contract to protect the data and use it only for our instructions. • Legal and safety: to comply with law, court orders, or lawful requests, and to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Platform. • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or financing, subject to this Policy and applicable law.

8. Automated processing and AI ("C.O.R.E. Intelligence")

Our AI features analyse your learning activity and (with consent) mood inputs to produce personalised revision plans, mistake-book insights, analytics, and mentoring suggestions. These are decision-support tools intended to assist your study; they do not produce legal or similarly significant automated decisions about you. You can contact us to understand or query how a recommendation was generated, and you may opt out of optional personalisation features as described in Section 12.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and SDKs for authentication, preferences, security, and analytics. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser/device settings; disabling some may affect functionality. We do not use cookies for advertising directed at children.

10. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law (e.g., tax and accounting records). When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. Where the law requires, we will give advance notice before erasure. You may request deletion as described in Section 12.

11. Data security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational safeguards — including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring — to protect personal data. In the event of a personal data breach, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected Data Principals as required by the DPDP Rules (within applicable timelines). No system is perfectly secure; please keep your login credentials confidential.

12. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you (or a parent/guardian acting for a child) may: • Access the personal data we hold about you and a summary of how it is processed. • Correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data. • Erase your data where it is no longer needed and not legally required. • Withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent (this will not affect processing already carried out). • Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity. • Grievance redressal — raise a complaint and, if unsatisfied, approach the Data Protection Board of India. To exercise any right, contact our Grievance Officer (Section 13). We will respond within the timelines required by law.

15. Educators / faculty — additional notes

If you join Tella as an educator, we process your professional, verification, and payout data to operate your partnership, calculate and pay revenue share, and provide dashboards and analytics. Student data you access through the Platform must be used only to teach and support those students, in line with this Policy, your agreement with us, and the law (including children's-data restrictions). You must not export, retain, or repurpose student data outside the Platform.
